I qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist in 2008, gaining a BSc (Hons) in Human Communication (Speech and Language Therapy) from De Montfort University. I have over 17 years experience working as an SLT, for many years in a range of settings in the NHS including community clinics, mainstream and special schools, and nurseries/preschools. I began working independently in summer 2021.
Though I have experience supporting children with a range of difficulties, my interests and strengths have led me to offering support for children aged 2-10 primarily with speech sound and/or language difficulties. This may include:
- Speech sound delay
- Speech sound disorder
- Developmental Verbal Dyspraxia
- Language delay
- Development Language Disorder (DLD)
I have received additional certified training in the following interventions:
- Makaton signing
- Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS)
- Palin Parent-Child Interaction Therapy
- Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS)
- Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC) for children with Developmental Verbal Dyspraxia
I complete regular 1:1 clinical and management supervision as well as peer supervision, as well as keep up to date with essential training (including first aid and safeguarding) and developments in the world of Speech and Language Therapy.
I currently hold membership with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT), Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP) and Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I also hold a enhanced DBS certificate.
