I am able to offer individualised assessment and therapy to children in their own homes, or in their education setting (nursery/preschool or school).

If you have concerns about your child’s communication skills then I would be happy to discuss this over the phone or via email free of charge. An initial assessment would then be offered if this is deemed appropriate.

Please note, the times below give an indication of session duration. This will vary depending on a range of factors including your child’s concentration and engagement, and complexity of needs.

Initial assessment (1-1 ½ hours) – £220

This will consist of gathering information from you about your child’s development and current skills, watching your child play/interact, and carrying out some picture or toy based activities. The session may be more structured for older children who can maintain their attention for longer. All this will help create a profile of your child’s communication skills. The cost of the session includes preparation and planning time, analysis of assessment and observations, case note writing (a legal requirement), and a summary report including advice on how to support your child moving forwards.

A further assessment session may be required in your child’s nursery or school setting, to gather more information and/or carry out an observation. This will be charged at a therapy session rate.

Therapy (45-60 minutes) – £80

Once an assessment has been completed, the next steps will be discussed. It may be that your child would benefit from 1:1 therapy sessions. The regularity of these will be discussed with you but will usually be weekly or fortnightly. Sometimes this might be for a set number of sessions e.g. six, before having a short break in therapy and then reviewing your child’s progress. A large part of ‘therapy’ is working with the family – supporting parents/carers by giving them the tools they need to help their child communicate, and feel confident whilst doing so. Therapy will be most effective if parents are able to carry out activities between sessions.

Review assessment (45-60 minutes) – £100

A review session may be required following a block of therapy or period of time away, or if half-termly or termly reviews are required rather than more frequent therapy sessions. It may involve informal or formal assessment, and helps measure progress and set new targets going forward.

Meeting attendance and additional reports/ programs – £80 per hour

It may be necessary to attend a meeting about your child e.g. with preschool or school staff and/or other professionals involved in your child’s care.

Your child may benefit from a targeted programme of activities, set and demonstrated by the SLT but delivered by preschool or school staff. This will differ across settings and so would be discussed accordingly.

Any additional reports requested will also be charged at the hourly rate.

Travel charge 

No fee will be charged for the first 20 minutes of travel to appointments. Over this time, excess travel is charged at £60 per hour, pro rata. Excess charges only apply for journeys to an appointment.

Education settings

I am able to offer one-off or regular visits to schools (both local authority and independent) or nurseries/preschools. This might be to carry out 1:1 assessments, 1:1 or group therapy sessions or to provide training to staff. Please contact me for more details.
